The Come Back Kid
by Admin ~ March 18th, 2009
My thoughts this week are based on a familiar text found in Paul’s letter to the disciples at Philippi “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4 v13
‘The come back kid’ is the title that sums up our story. Thomas Edison and his team laboured for an unbroken 24 hours to produce the first light bulb.
When it was finished, Edison gave the bulb to a young helper to carry upstairs. Step by step the young lad walked carefully, cupping his hands all the way, in case he dropped his precious cargo.
Sure enough, right at the top of the stairs, the boy dropped the bulb, shattering it to pieces. The team went back to work and 24 hours later, they finally produced another bulb. Tired and ready for rest, Edison called the same boy and gave him the bulb to carry up the stairs, this time safely & successfully.
Here is a real life story to encourage those who have messed up, failed, and have lost faith in themselves. The good news is, Christ believes in you, He is on your side. Many of the most successful people that God has used were failures. Moses is a typical example. In my personal experience I suffered from burn out for some years. Yet God raised me up to become a minister of the Good News. What He has done for others, He can do for you!
Prayer: Heavenly Father You are waiting to give everyone of us another opportunity to serve you. Help us to grasp it with both hands in the name of Jesus! Amen!
