Prophecy Becomes Reality!

The annual conference of British Assemblies of God ministers took place in 1984 when two Pentecostal leaders from the Church in the Soviet Union, were present. They gave moving accounts of the persecution and progress of the Church, behind what was then known as ‘The Iron Curtain.’ In the light of these first hand reports, the chairman of the conference called the delegates to prayer for the suffering believers.
While the meeting for prayer was in progress, one of the delegates, Vernon Ralphs, gave a public prophecy stating that the difficulties the believers were facing in the Soviet Union would last for three more years. The prophecy went on to confirm that God moves in a mysterious, yet sovereign way against human opposition.
Three years later, in 1987, President Gorbachev introduced reforms in Russia known as Glasnost (openess) and Perestroika (reconstruction).  In God’s marvellous grace, the original prophecy actually became a reality. Scripture confirms: ‘Heaven and Earth may pass away, but God’s Word will never pass away.’ (Luke 21. 33)
